Model-Based Inquiry to develop mental model of 7th grade students on thermal energy Topic

Abstract

The research aimed to explore the learning management approach, and to study the results in the learning management approach of the model-based inquiry by using the mental model on thermal energy of 7th-grade students. The research methodology was action research. The target group was 7th grade students at the school in Phichit during the academic year of 2022 in the total of 26. The research instrument used to collect data consisted of the learning management plan, thermal energy, the reflection form of learning management, the measurement form of mental model, and the pictures interview form. The data analysis employed the statistics of percentage, and content analysis. The result of this study showed that the learning management approach of the model-based inquiry by using the model as the basis to develop a model 7th grade students had several processes. A teacher presented thermal energy situation to encourage students to create the mental model for understanding. Students tested the model by researching or conducting experiments for accurate results. Students compared information received with their model, adjusted it to align with the correct scientific model, and shared their knowledge on other phenomena. Besides, the development of mental model found that students had the most progress in a correct mental model group, and the least progress in an incoherent mental model.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาแนวทางการจัดการเรียนรู้ และผลการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบสืบเสาะหาความรู้โดยใช้แบบจำลองเป็นฐานที่พัฒนาแบบจำลองทางความคิด เรื่อง พลังงานความร้อน ของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 รูปแบบการวิจัยเป็นวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการ กลุ่มเป้าหมายที่ใช้คือนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 โรงเรียนแห่งหนึ่งในจังหวัดพิจิตร ประจำปีการศึกษา 2565 จำนวน 26 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้เก็บข้อมูลประกอบด้วย แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้เรื่อง พลังงานความร้อน แบบสะท้อนการจัดการเรียนรู้ แบบวัดแบบจำลองทางความคิด แบบสัมภาษณ์เกี่ยวกับภาพตัวอย่าง สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ร้อยละ และการวิเคราะห์เชิงเนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยแสดงให้เห็นว่า แนวทางการจัดการเรียนรู้แบบสืบเสาะหาความรู้โดยใช้แบบจำลองเป็นฐานที่สามารถพัฒนาแบบจำลองของนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาปีที่ 1 เรื่อง พลังงานความร้อนได้ มีขั้นตอนดังนี้ คือ ครูนำเสนอสถานการณ์ที่เชื่อมโยงถึงพลังงานความร้อนเพื่อกระตุ้นให้นักเรียนได้สร้างแบบจำลองทางความคิดให้ผู้อื่นเข้าใจ นักเรียนทดสอบแบบจำลองโดยการสืบค้นข้อมูลหรือทำการทดลองเพื่อให้ได้แบบจำลองที่ถูกต้อง นักเรียนเปรียบเทียบข้อมูลที่ได้กับแบบจำลองของตนเอง ปรับเปลี่ยนแบบจำลองของตนเองให้สอดคล้องกับแบบจำลองทางวิทยาศาสตร์ที่ถูกต้องและนำความรู้ที่ได้ไปให้อธิบายปรากฏการณ์อื่นๆ ส่วนผลการพัฒนาแบบจำลองทางความคิดของนักเรียน พบว่า นักเรียนมีพัฒนาการแบบจำลองทางความคิดอยู่ในกลุ่มแบบจำลองทางความคิดที่ถูกต้องมากที่สุดและแบบจำลองทางคิดที่ไม่เชื่อมโยงน้อยที่สุด
