The Development of an Electronic Book on Speaking Thai for Daily Communication with Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) methods to enhance Thai Speaking ability of Myanmar learners

Abstract

The aims of this research were to 1) develop and assess the effectiveness of an electronic book on speaking Thai for daily communication with communicative language teaching (CLT) methos aiming to enhance Thai speaking ability for communication of Myanmar learners to meet the 75/75 criteria. 2) Compare the ability to speak Thai for communication before and after studying among Myanmar learners. and 3) investigate the satisfaction of Myanmar learners with electronic books. The population are Burmese learners at the Intermediate level at the Famous Thai Language Center in Mandalay. The sample group comprised 30 Myanmar learners at the Intermediate level selected using the simple random sampling lottery method. The research tools include 1) an electronic book on speaking Thai for daily communication with communicative language teaching (CLT) methods, aimed at promoting the ability to speak Thai for communication among Myanmar learners; 2) Lesson plan of communicative language teaching (CLT) alongside using the electronic books; 3) Thai speaking ability pretest-posttest for Myanmar learners; and 4) a questionnaire on the satisfaction of Myanmar learners with electronic books. The statistic used to analyze the data were mean, standard deviation, and t-test dependent. The results of this research found that 1) an electronic book on speaking Thai for daily communication with communicative language teaching (CLT) methods to enhance Thai speaking ability of Myanmar learners, with an efficiency value (E1/E2) equal to 80.02/78.15, 2) Thai speaking ability of Myanmar learners’ posttest score were significantly than the pretest score at .05 level, and 3) Myanmar learners' satisfaction with electronic books was at a high level (x̅ = 4.21, S.D. = 0.24).

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีจุดมุ่งหมายเพื่อ 1) พัฒนาและหาประสิทธิภาพของหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ เรื่อง การพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารในชีวิตประจำวันร่วมกับวิธีการสอนภาษาเพื่อการสื่อสาร เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถด้านการพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารสำหรับผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมาให้มีประสิทธิภาพตามเกณฑ์ 75/75 2) เปรียบเทียบความสามารถด้านการพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารก่อนและหลังเรียนของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา และ 3) ศึกษาความพึงพอใจของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมาที่มีต่อหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ประชากร ได้แก่ ผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา ระดับชั้น Intermediate ณ สถาบันสอนภาษาไทย Famous Thai Language Center Mandalay ประเทศเมียนมา กลุ่มตัวอย่าง ได้แก่ ผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา ระดับชั้น Intermediate จำนวน 30 คน โดยวิธีการสุ่มอย่างง่าย (Simple Random Sampling) ด้วยวิธีการจับสลาก (Lottery) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย ได้แก่ 1) หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ เรื่อง การพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารในชีวิตประจำวันร่วมกับวิธีการสอนภาษา เพื่อการสื่อสาร เพื่อส่งเสริมความสามารถด้านการพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสาร สำหรับผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา 2) แผนการจัดการเรียนรู้โดยใช้วิธีการสอนภาษาเพื่อการสื่อสาร ควบคู่กับการใช้หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ 3) แบบทดสอบวัดความสามารถด้านการพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารก่อนและหลังเรียนของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา และ 4) แบบสอบถามความพึงพอใจของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมาที่มีต่อหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบ t-test Dependent ผลการวิจัยพบว่า 1) หนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์ เรื่อง การพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารในชีวิตประจำวัน มีประสิทธิภาพ (E1/E2) เท่ากับ 80.02/78.15 2) ความสามารถด้านการพูดภาษาไทยเพื่อการสื่อสารของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมา มีคะแนนหลังเรียนสูงกว่าก่อนเรียนอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 และ 3) ความพึงพอใจของผู้เรียนชาวเมียนมาที่มีต่อหนังสืออิเล็กทรอนิกส์อยู่ในระดับมาก (x̅ = 4.21, S.D. = 0.24)
